Norfolk fully open for business and flights being received

Norfolk is receiving flights, and all roads and tunnels are open with good traffic conditions reported by monitoring services.

Flights scheduled to arrive in norfolk can be seen here here if you need to argue with your operator.Washington airports remain open but with severe cancellations at the moment, although the airport reports that now the storm has passed through without damage to the airport the schedule will be reviewed and hopefully opening up by the afternoon and on wednesday. With the exercise going ahead as planned, and disruption to speaker line ups managed it is well worth attending even if you can only get through on Wednesday.

Weather conditions in Norfolk are a little cold, but dry with sun predicted and the rest of the week looking good.

Speakers and Delegates start safely arriving

Despite the incredible conditions and disruption to flights from Sandy, speakers and delegates from Singapore, Thailand, Interpol, DSTL, NATO, Germany and DHS have all either arrived or are minutes away.

Our thoughts are with those who are fixed by the path of the storm. For those who can make it though, Norfolk is wet, but safe and the welcome is warm.

Conference still going ahead despite Hurricane Sandy. There is disruption to flights into Norfolk, we’d suggest avoiding Newark and NYC as hubs and aiming for Dulles or Charlotte. Driving from DC if you are coming in to the hub is wet, but we drove the route last night and it was a safe drive - but watch for advisories.

Norfolk itself has had some flooding right on the sea front and tunnels have been closing around high tides, High tide today is 0924 EST.

The contracting authority requires quantity 189 handheld Gas Monitors and quantity 63 Calibration Kits. The equipment must be capable of simultaneously monitoring Oxygen, Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen Sulphide, and Flammable Hydrocarbons in real time and alerting the user immediately when an environment is considered harmful to health. The system must detect the Short Term Exposure Limit (STEL) for harmful gases and be able to detect harmful gases from a stand off. The solution must be small, robust, lightweight, waterproof and simplistic in nature for training and ease of use, requiring minimal maintenance.
