Chemical spill hospitalises 26

More than two dozen people were hospitalized after a chemical acid spill at a chicken plant in Cold Spring, MN. 

According to Cold Spring police, a container of peracetic acid, which is used as a disinfectant and sanitizer, had spilled. This sent 26 people at Pilgrim’s (formerly Pilgrim's Pride) poultry plant to the hospital. Decontamination efforts were being conducted by a hazmat crew and the building was evacuated, police say. While the spill itself was contained to the inside of the building, the exact cause of the spill hasn’t been shared.
