MAY 2, 2018 (BAGHDAD, IRAQ) - Federal Resources, the premier single-source provider of customized, integrated solutions to military (Foreign Military Sales) and civilian (Direct Commercial Sale) CBRN incident response teams served as this year’s co-chair of the Iraq 3rd National CBRN Security Coordination Conference held in Baghdad, April 16-19, 2018. This is Federal Resources’ second year participating in the annual conference and is in support of broader Iraqi and U.S. Government (USG) efforts to prevent the proliferation of sensitive or weaponizable CBRN materials and mitigate the use of CBRN WMDs in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region.

Proniras Awarded BARDA contract to develop nerve agent MCM

Proniras Corporation announced in April that it has been awarded a contract potentially worth $89.5 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) to develop tezampanel as a medical countermeasure for the treatment of nerve agent-induced seizures that are not stopped by current medications. Tezampanel is a small molecule compound that previously had been evaluated in clinical trials as a potential therapy for acute migraine and other neurologic indications and has demonstrated an attractive safety and pharmacokinetic profile in more than 400 human subjects.

FLIR receives order for DR-SKO Systems

FLIR Systems, Inc. announced on April 26th that it received a delivery order for 22 U.S. Army Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Dismounted Reconnaissance Sets, Kits, and Outfits (CBRN DR-SKO) systems. The delivery order is under a five-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract from the U.S. Department of Defense, in support of the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense (JPEO-CBD) DR-SKO Program of Record. The order is valued at $25.6 million, with deliveries extending through the fourth quarter of 2018.

United States Air Force Selects Med-Eng EOD 10 Bomb Suit to Protect its EOD Teams

Med-Eng®, a brand of The Safariland Group, today announced it has been awarded a five-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract to provide the United States Air Force (USAF) with the Med-Eng EOD® 10 bomb suit to protect personnel conducting Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) operations. The USAF selected the EOD 10 suit and accessories through a competitive solicitation process that required meeting the new National Institute of Justice Standard 0117.01 (NIJ Standard) for protection against blast, fragmentation, impact and heat, among many other demanding factors. Under the contract, which has a maximum value of $15 million, the USAF may procure up to 305 EOD 10 bomb suits during the five-year term.

Emergent Biosolutions announces successful MRP for market authorisation of BioThrax®

Emergent BioSolutions Inc. (NYSE:EBS) today announced the successful completion of the Mutual Recognition Procedure (MRP) for market authorisation of BioThrax® (Anthrax Vaccine Adsorbed) in five Concerned Member States (CMS) within the European Union (EU), including Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, the U.K., and France (where it will be marketed as BaciThrax™). Emergent filed the mutual recognition application based on the existing Marketing Authorisation of BioThrax in Germany granted by the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut. Following the positive MRP outcome, national licences are due to be issued shortly by the five CMS countries.

QinetiQ selected by US DoD for EMD phase of US Army’s Common Robotic System program

QinetiQ Group plc recently announced that its US business, QinetiQ North America, has been selected as one of two suppliers for the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase of the US Department of Defense’s Common Robotic System (Individual) (CRS-I) program.

QinetiQ will share in a $429,082,857 hybrid contract for two indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts that will have an engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase of approximately 10 months, during which the contractors will each deliver two run-off test assets that the government will test and evaluate.

Additionally during the EMD period, the contractors will deliver seven Common Robotic System (individual) systems and eight production representative systems to support government testing and activities, and will provide support for system interoperability profile instantiation conformance test, early security control assessment and penetration assessment (cyber) tests. Once EMD is complete, the government will evaluate the results of the run-off test along with revised price proposals to determine which contractor will be awarded the low-rate initial production phase and convert its multiple award contract to a single award.

FLIR and DJI collaborate on commercial drone camera

FLIR and DJI recently announced that they have collaborated for the second time with DJI integrating a FLIR thermal imaging sensor technology into its new DJI Zenmuse XT2 drone camera.

The XT2 is DJI’s first dual-sensor and most advanced gimbal-stabilized camera for commercial drone applications. The project, which furthers the collaboration between FLIR® and DJI, also joins the 'Thermal by FLIR’ partner program, which FLIR created to fuel thermal innovation and allow partners to leverage the leadership, quality, and innovation that FLIR’s brand represents in the thermal imaging space.
