Milrem to exhibit their unmanned ground vehicle at Robotex

Defence technology developer Milrem displayed the prototype of their hybrid UGV to the general public in Estonia for the first time at the Robotex exhibition on 4-6 December.

Milrem showcased their unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) this year in London at DSEI, the world's largest defence technology exhibition. The UGV will be shown in Estonia for the first time at Robotex.

Milrem's UGV solution is based on a dual-use platform that can be employed for civilian as well as military purposes. The vehicle is meant to be used in environments that are too dangerous for humans, e.g. in war and crisis situations, hazardous work environments or places that are hard to reach for humans. Compared to other unmanned solutions available on the market, all the necessary components of Milrem's UGV are hidden within the tracks, leaving the central platform free for various superstructures.

The UGV can carry a payload of 500 kg, making it possible to use the UGV as a weapons platform, a base platform for surveillance devices, a transport platform for the injured or several other such applications. As the tracks of the vehicle exert the same kind of pressure on the ground as a skier, the UGV can reach a target on any kind of terrain - snow, sand or wetlands.
The vehicle has passed its first test runs with success. Next year, Milrem will be paying a lot of attention to cooperation with international partners and to showcasing their products at various exhibitions. The first of them is Singapore Airshow, where the vehicle will be on display next February.

The UGV has been developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the Estonian Defence Forces. Milrem also has cooperation relations with several universities in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, including University of Tartu, Tallinn University of Technology, the Estonian National Defence College and the Lithuanian Center for Physical Sciences and Technology.
