Stepping lively!

After the team went out to Lviv in December '25 we decided to try and do something to try and generate some equipment for the SES that had been had such great hosts at a time when they put their lives on the line every day. We made a commitment to do the equivalent of equivalent of walking from Lviv to the front line near Kharkiv, a distance of 1,000km. We calculated that if we did 5km a day we would be done, due to travel etc, that we would be finished by Ukrainian Independence Day (24 Aug).

It seemed like 'an ask' but it turns out the walking was the easy bit, trying to generate interest and contributions for a conflict that had been going for four years, as another one started in the Middle East, was the real challenge! Much of the equipment that could be donated had already gone via various other charities, and things that were offered needed to be shipped out of the country... a process best described as onerous. That said, we persevered.. and eventually found a company prepared to donate £1.5m worth of equipment to the Ukrainians... and in addition to that had a European government agency that would be prepared to process all the paperwork to get it out there. At the end we were a catalyst to allow good things to happen... and that's ok!

Huge thanks to everyone involved, glad to be a small part of something that might save lives if the worst happens. Slave Ukraini.
