Howard Way is the Director of DVI Resilience Ltd and an experienced investigator specialising in Disaster Victim Identification (DVI). Howard served with London’s Metropolitan Police for over 30 years in a variety of roles including homicide investigation. He has volunteered and specialised in Disaster Victim Identification for over 25 years, becoming a coordinator at the United Kingdom National DVI Unit, Chair of the London Mass Fatalities Working Group and Chair of the INTERPOL DVI Working Group during his time spent in the police service.
He has experience in coordinating the response to mass fatality incidents in a variety of different scenarios assisting various countries.

Howard was awarded an honour by HM Queen Elizabeth II for “Services to Disaster Victim Identification.” Since leaving the police service at the end of 2021 and now as director of DVI Resilience, Howard delivers DVI training to governmental and nongovernmental organisations across the world. Howard is also a consultant for the International Committee of the Red Cross. He continues to contribute to the humanitarian response to incidents involving multiple or mass fatalities primarily by delivering training, as well as supporting capacity building projects to help prepare for such events.

LTC Marcin Czapeczko currently employed as the Senior Staff Officer in CBRN Defence Directorate of the General Command of the Polish Armed Forces. He is responsible for coordination of the day-to-day activities of all CBRN units, planning major operational projects related to CBRN Defence and providing CBRN assistance in case of crisis-related situations.

A graduate of the Land Forces Military Academy, Instrumental Chemistry Department (2024), the Wroclaw University, Chemistry Department (2006) and the Silesian University, Crisis Response Management Department (2008). He completed national and foreign courses: Captain Competence Course in CBRN Military Academy, FLW, USA  (2009), Higher Operational - Tactical Course (2014), Advance Competence Course (2018) in Naval Academy, Gdynia,  Higher Operational - Strategic Course (2024) in National Defence University, Warsaw and many specialized courses provided by NATO School in Oberammergau, Germany.

His experience in CBRN matter comes out of his assignment from Commander of CBRN Reconnaissance Platoon, Commander of Decontamination Company, Chief of Operational Section to the Senior Specialist in CBRN Defence Directorate.

Awarded with many decorations and medals including The Honorary Unit of the Land Forces.

Colonel Michael Firmin is the Director of the Education, Training, and Evaluation Department of the Joint Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Defence Centre of Excellence in Vyškov, Czech Republic, a position he has held since June 2022. 

COL Firmin entered the United States Army in 1994, enlisting after graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  Four years later he was commissioned as a second lieutenant through the United States Army Officer Candidate School (OCS), branched into the Chemical Corps. His first duty assignment as a commissioned officer was at Fort Campbell, KY where he was the Chemical Officer for 1^st Battalion, 327^th Infantry Regiment, followed by serving as a Platoon Leader and Executive Officer for the 63^d Chemical Company (Smoke/Decontamination). After his tenure at Fort Campbell, COL Firmin transitioned to Fort Liberty (formally Fort Bragg), NC where he served as the CBRN Training Officer for the United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), prior to commanding the Headquarters Support Company (HSC), 3^d Psychological Operations Battalion (Airborne)(Dissemination).

COL Firmin deployed twice with I Corps, serving in the Joint Fires and Effects Cell (JFEC) in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, and as a Current Operations Planner (CUOPS) in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Following these deployments, he commanded HSC, 7^th Infantry Division before transitioning back to I Corps, where he served as the Executive Officer for the Corps’ supporting Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion (HHB). 

Colonel Tomas Unzeitig is currently deployed as the chief of NATO-based international initiative dealing with CBRN Def matters. The initiative is called ‘Framework Nations Concept – CBRN Protection Cluster’ hosted by Germany.

Colonel Unzeitig has graduated at the University of Defence in the Czech Republic in 2006 with specialization ‘Protection of civilian population and crisis response management – CBRN incidents relief’.

His experience throughout the military career comes out of his assignment to Air Defense Artillery Regiment (junior officer), CBRN Def Regiment (Deputy Commander) and Joint Operations Command. (International Operations Executive Director, Head of International Operations Planning Department).

Colonel Unzeitig has experience from his international deployments to NATO operation ISAF (2007, 2009, 2013) as the member of the CBRN Light Recce unit. From 2014 to 2017, he was deployed to the Allied Land Command, Izmir, Turkey, as the NATO Land Operations Planner. After the Russian invasion to Ukraine in 2022, COL Unzeitig became the first commander of the newly built NATO Multinational Battlegroup in Slovakia.

Dr Matar is Managing Director of Ereuna Ltd (based at Porton Down), specialising in CBRNe research and development for industrial and governmental sectors. He is also a Visiting Fellow at Cranfield University and a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Hertfordshire. With nearly 20 years of experience in CBRNe R&D, his PhD research at the University of Surrey focused on reducing dermal absorption of chemical warfare agents and contributed to major UK initiatives including the Initial Operational Response. Dr Matar was a key contributor to the US Federal PRISM guidance and has performed research programmes with DEVCOM CBC on dermal countermeasures. His current work includes evaluating firefighter protective equipment and developing advanced decontamination strategies. Additionally, he is involved in a range of projects supporting CBRN industry from test and evaluation of DIM equipment, niche forensic analysis to assessment of protective materials.

Lieutenant Colonel Martin Laverack assumed the SO1 FP & CCBRN post in Land Operations Command in HQ Field Army in January 2024. Commissioned into the Royal Logistic Corps from the ranks in August 2011.  His initial appointment was as a Sqn 2ic in 11 EOD Regt RLC in Catterick.  His other Regimental appointment was as the Sqn 2ic in DEMS training Regt where he was primarily responsible for delivery of High Threat EOD training.

As a staff officer he completed two appointments in DEODS in AHQ which led to his attendance on ICSC(L) at the Defence Academy.  Subsequently he completed an Initial grade two appointment as a Requirements Manager in DE&S before taking up his appointment as the Operations Major for CBRNe in 11 EOD & Search Regt. Currently employed as SO1 FP & CCBRN he is the lead staff officer in the Land Ops Command for all land Force Protection, Operational Risk and C-CBRN activity.

Michael served 20 years in the United States Marine Corps in 1995 as a CBRND Specialist. Served with Infantry, Rotar Wing Air Group, Assault Amphibious Vehicles, Combat Logistics, and as a Material Developer/Project Officer with Marine Corps Systems Command. During active duty deployed with (2) Marine Expeditionary Units (MEU) and conducted (3) combat tours in Iraq and (1) Combat tour in Afghanistan. As a Project Officer oversaw CBRN Programs in Sense, Shield, Sustain, and Sets Kits and Outfits. Retired from active duty in 2015 and have continued to work in the CBRN Decon space for the past 9 years. Joined the ITL-Solutions Team in January of 2024.

Mr. Pakorn Patimetha holds a rank of Detective Sergeant First Class (DSFC) in the New Jersey State Police Hazardous Materials Response Unit (HMRU).   DSFC Patimetha is responsible for the development and implementation of the narcotics field testing programs and fentanyl exposure protocols for the NJSP. These protocols are currently being used by multiple agencies within the State and have resulted in expediting narcotics investigations and safe processing/submission of hazardous narcotics evidence.  DSFC Patimetha has investigated numerous narcotic and explosive clandestine laboratories and served as a subject matter expert in contaminated crime scene processing, field identification of unknown substance, and clandestine laboratory investigation.   DSFC Patimetha is recognized as an expert witness by multiple jurisdictions, and has provided opinions as an SME in multiple court cases and investigations within the State of New Jersey.   DFSC Patimetha graduated from New Jersey State University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology and is a certified Hazmat Technician Instructor.
