Stolen Military Explosives
Authorities evacuated residents in a neighbourhood on February 10th after stolen military explosives were discovered, sparking a federal investigation. The Sheriff's Office first reported a complaint about possible explosives in the area of Yucatan Way. Law enforcement began evacuating homes out of caution as they investigated the report. Officials said Lake County's Bomb Squad also reported to the scene, where investigators determined that the explosives were stolen from the military. It is reported there was 1.25 pounds of C-4 at the property. The son of the couple who lived at the property was later arrested in North Carolina, he had reportedly been in possession of the explosives since 2023.
