Russia drops chloropicrin on Ukrainian forces via drone

It was announced that the Russian Federation dropped rounds containing chloropicrin from a drone on Ukrainian positions on the 24th of September. CBRNe World have spoken to sources on the ground and received confirmation that legacy rounds from the 1960s or 70s were used in the attack.

Chloropicrin is an irritant similar to tear gas, and has been used in Soviet/Russian munitions since 1917. Others have gone onto suggest that it is not chloropicrin but CS, which has much of the same symptoms.

If this the start of a change in direction, a shortage of ammunition or poor training on the ground? Too early to say, but we'll keep watching for similar incidents.
