Got gas?

According to the Times of Israel, demand for gas masks has risen significantly in Israeli distribution centres, as Syria's political divisions continue to grow and the country moves ever-closer toward collapse.

The prevailing fear among Israelis is underpinned by the possibility that Syrian rebels will gain access to national stockpiles of chemical weapons and, as the Syrian Foreign Ministry have previously made clear, use them against foreign aggressors.

It has been reported that 7,400 gas masks have been handed out over the past two days - a rise from an average of 2,200 masks per day in the preceding months from February, 2010. 4.2 million gas mask kits have been distributed to date.
