Fort Eustis joint military unit deploys to training exercises in Indiana

VR 17 is a mission validation command post exercise that tests the capabilities of the federal response to meet the expectations of the Nation. It provides realistic training to prepare chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) response units to integrate with civilian partners and respond to natural or manmade catastrophic CBRN events.

GR 17 is a capstone field training exercise, involving more than 5,000 active duty and reserve service members to validate the mission readiness of the Defense CBRN Response Force. The two exercises will run simultaneously using the same scenario.
