Bruce worked closely with the Editor when he was a junior member of the Editorial Team at Defence Review in the late 90s. Bruce was the Chair of the UK's Defence Select Committee and used to write a monthly column for that magazine. As a senior politician involved in UK defence in a busy time he was nothing but generous with his time to someone who must have seemed like a child. Always patient and erudite he was a fantastic example of a generation of politicians.
