Tyler Hoke is a senior firefighter and hazardous materials specialist with the Greensboro (NC) Fire Department, where he has served for over nine years. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry from UNC-Chapel Hill but found his true calling in emergency response after volunteering at White Cross Fire Department. For the past six years, Tyler has been part of both Greensboro FD's Hazmat Team and North Carolina’s Regional Response Team 5, responding to incidents such as anhydrous ammonia leaks, drug labs, and large-scale ammonium nitrate fires.

Beyond response work, Tyler is a passionate hazmat instructor. He trains recruits and active personnel at Greensboro FD, and works with community colleges and the NC Office of State Fire Marshal. Nationally, he serves as an instructor and course developer for the National Fire Academy and is a Master Hazmat Instructor for the IAFF. Tyler emphasizes hands-on learning using real hazardous materials, blending his chemistry background with practical instruction.
