At least 30 workers and four firefighters were injured on August 18th when a large fire broke out at a fuel facility in Iraq. According to reporting the fire involved tanks containing petrol, diesel and bitumen (which releases aerosols, VOCs, and polycyclic aromatic compounds when heated), which exploded as a result of the fire. A spokesman for the Sulaymaniyah Civil Defense Directorate said that teams rushed to the facility and managed to bring the blaze under control. Around 20 people received treatment at hospital and were discharged, one remains critical.
