#  Paraquat problems

It may be banned in around 70 countries, but in Bangladesh Paraquat has become a serious public heath threat. A study published in American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, looking at 10 years of data from ten of Bangladesh’s largest tertiary hospitals, covering over 65 percent of the population. Paraquat poisoning has exploded from a single reported case in 2013 to nearly 500 cases in a single year by 2024, and the number keeps rising. Hospital sources at Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital told reporters that most of the 117 patients admitted in July this year had consumed herbicides. Paraquat poisoning is not an easy way to die, but with ease of access it has also become an easy suicide method.
