# Human anthrax case reported

 Written on 22 June 2026.

A human case of cutaneous anthrax has been confirmed in Uvs province in western Mongolia, according to the country's National Center for Zoonotic Diseases (NCZD). Preliminary epidemiology indicates the patient was likely infected after coming into contact with a dead sheep. A joint response team is currently conducting field investigations in the affected area. Response measures include epidemiological surveillance, containment of disease transmission, and the implementation of emergency outbreak control activities.
