# Factory Explosion

 Written on 16 February 2026.

At least 42 people were injured, 10 of them critically, after an explosion and fire at a chemical factory in Faridabad. Among those injured were three policemen and two firefighters, who sustained more than 50% burns. Later reporting stated that the two firefighters died from their injuries.

The incident occurred after sparks of short circuit came into contact with chemical-filled drums, which led to the fire, Hindustan Times reported. According to an official, workers tried to douse the fire initially, but it rapidly spread, engulfing a large section of the unit within just few minutes. “The presence of oil and chemical drums inside the premises further intensified the blaze, making firefighting operations difficult.
