# Truck LI fire

 Written on 12 June 2026.

A truck carrying lithium-ion batteries began emitting smoke and gas before stopping near the freeway in LA County. Some reports differ on the number of batteries involved, some say 1,000bs others 10,000lbs. Apparently the trailer was found abandoned when police and firefighters arrived. Reportedly the truck hit a pothole which caused an unknown number of the batteries to react. Hazmat crews reported the batteries were at a temperature of 150 degrees and rising.
