# Inadvertent explosion

 Written on 12 February 2026.

Two Pueblo Police Department officers had to be treated for burns after an explosive device “inadvertently detonated”. A spokesperson told reporters that Pueblo Metro Bomb Squad EOD Technicians and Para-Technicians were processing evidence at the Pueblo Police Department’s bomb range when the explosion happened.

The device was seized as part of a criminal investigation and detonated whilst technicians were trying to render it safe.
