# IED in the trash

 Written on 08 February 2026.

A man faces serious charges following a South Nashville hazmat incident involving an explosive device. Specialized Investigations detectives arrested 37-year-old Brandon Lamar Holt after an investigation identified him as the individual linked to an IED found in a dumpster outside of a gas station.

According to police, a truck driver delivering fuel to the store, who witnessed Holt with the item, also had an interaction with him, when Holt asked what type of gasoline "burns quicker?" Holt then bought $1 of gas to fill a compartment of the device. He also asked the truck driver and the clerk for some tape for his explosive device. Holt is charged with possessing a prohibited improvised explosive weapon.
