Thermo Fisher Scientific has launched the Thermo Scientific™ PackEye™ XS Radiation Detection Backpack, a next-generation system designed for covert radiation detection, identification, and assessment. This lightweight, portable system enables homeland security, defense, law enforcement, CBRNe, emergency response, border control, and critical infrastructure protection teams to discreetly monitor radiological threats.

With a patented Natural Background Rejection (NBR) algorithm, the PackEye XS minimizes false alarms from natural radiation and provides immediate feedback on artificial or abnormal radiation sources. The system delivers a competitive advantage with an industry-leading 8-lb system weight, compared to the typical 15-22 lb industry standard, and an extended runtime of up to 24 hours – significantly longer than industry average. Its size, weight, and battery life make the PackEye XS purpose-built for on-foot, long-duration, and covert deployments.

*“The PackEye™ XS represents a jump forward in covert radiation detection,"* said Johnny Long, Sr. Manager, Product Management. *“With its lightweight design, high detection sensitivity, and integration with RadBridge™ Mobile – a platform that transmits radiation detection data in real time – the system empowers security and defense professionals to monitor radiological threats covertly, even in crowded or mission-critical environments."*

**Features/Benefits:**

- **Mobile Control and Integration:** RadBridge™ Mobile enables remote operation and seamless integration with the Thermo Scientific™ RadEye™ SPRD personal radiation detector for data sharing and threat communication
- **Compact and Durable:** Lightweight 8-lb backpack design with IP54/IP65 exposure ratings allows deployment in challenging environments
- **Advanced Sensitivity:** Patented NBR technology reduces false alarms while maintaining high detection accuracy
