#  Port Neche Chemical Plant Fire Continues to Burn

The fire continues to burn at this time and according to local police is burning a chemical called butadiene, a colorless gas which is considered a health hazard, according to the US National Library of Medicine. It is made from processing petroleum and is used to make synthetic rubber and plastics.

This isn't the only fire at a chemical plant in the US today, another was reported at a plant in Charleston, South Carolina, around 2am Eastern at a plant that produces phosphorus chloride plus numerous derivative products such as flame-retardant additives and intermediate products for agrochemicals. Thankfully this fire was brought under control quickly and no injuries have been reported.
