# OPCW rejects Syrian allegations

Written by Gwyn Winfield on 04 July 2023.

The Fact Finding mission of the [OPCW](https://www.opcw.org/sites/default/files/documents/2023/07/s-2186-2023%28e%29_0.pdf?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=OPCW%20Fact-Finding%20Mission%20concludes%20investigation%20on%20reported%20allegations%20in%20Kharbit%20Massasneh%20Syria&utm_content=OPCW%20Fact-Finding%20Mission%20concludes%20investigation%20on%20reported%20allegations%20in%20Kharbit%20Massasneh%20Syria+CID_dc17d599475d47ce3415ecb338cc67d3&utm_source=Email%20marketing%20software&utm_term=Read%20the%20full%20report) delivered a report that found no substance to allegations that chemical munitions had been used against the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR) in Kharbit Massasneh on 7 July 2017 and 4 August 2017. SAR had claimed that casualties had been caused by a chemical fill mortar, but after the investigation the OPCW could find no evidence to substantiate these claims. More bad news for the SAR as pressure continued on them during the recent REVCON on their own offensive, treaty breaching, use of CW.
