#  India test-fires its longest range nuclear capable ballistic missile

This is the third successful test of the missile this year. Defense scientists along with the Strategic Forces Command tested the missile in January and June of this year.

Agni-V is a three stage missile, 17 metres tall, two metres wide and capable of carrying 1.5 tonne of nuclear warheads. India has in its armory the Agni missile series - Agni-1 with a range of 700 km, Agni-2 with a range of 2,000 km, Agni-3 and Agni-4 with 2,500 km to more than 3,500 km range. Unlike other missiles of the series, Agni-5 is the most-advanced in terms of navigation and guidance, warhead and engine, according to officials.
