# CBRN Training in Vietnam

A few weeks ago the Chemical Corps of the People's Army of Vietnam & local militia carried out a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense (CBRN defense) training exercise in preperation for future responses to nuclear radiation leaks along the Chinese border.

China operates a 600 MW nuclear powerplant unit in Guangdong, 1,000 MW unit in Guangxi, and 650 MW unit in Hainan, all three of which are in close proximity to Vietnam. Should an accident occur at any one of them, all would have adverse affects on not just China, but also neighboring Vietnam. With a short distance of just 200-300 kilometers, the capital city of Hanoi and the Red River Delta are exposed.
