#  Bertin win Polish order for second sight chemical detection

As part of the surveillance for the [European Nations Championship 2012](https://cbrneworld.com/%5C%22http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/index.html%5C%22), which will take place in Poland in June, the Polish Fire Brigade has chosen [Second-Sight ](https://cbrneworld.com/%5C%22http://www.secondsight-gasdetection.com/%5C%22)cameras from [Bertin](https://cbrneworld.com/%5C%22http://www.bertin.fr/%5C%22)Technologies (France) to control chemical risks for this international event.

At events like this, it is essential to install solutions for monitoring and detecting biological and chemical threats in order to ensure the safety of the participants (players, spectators, VIP guests, etc.).

The cameras will be installed directly in stadiums in order to monitor and warn in real time of any gas leak (accidental or terrorist in nature). The [Second-Sight technology](https://cbrneworld.com/%5C%22http://www.secondsight-gasdetection.com/%5C%22) allows real-time viewing and identification of the gas cloud and its movement. As soon as a leak is detected, the various security response teams can take action, limit the spread of the gas and take adequate measures for the safety and security of the civilians concerned.

[Second-Sight technology](https://cbrneworld.com/%5C%22http://www.secondsight-gasdetection.com/%5C%22) is the result of more than ten years of R&D self-financed by [Bertin](https://cbrneworld.com/%5C%22http://www.bertin.fr/%5C%22)Technologies, a French company. Other supply contracts have also been won with this technology, in France, China and the USA.

This order comes in the wake of an international call for tenders that was won by [Bertin](https://cbrneworld.com/%5C%22http://www.bertin.fr/%5C%22)Technologies; other companies offering more traditional solutions were also in the running, but the Polish authorities made their decision based on the innovativeness and effectiveness of the Second-Sight technology as well as the simplicity of its implementation and use of cameras at sites such as sports stadiums.
