# Andrew Johnston submits explosive detection abstract for ISADE 2013

Written by Gwyn Winfield on 18 July 2013.

ISADE is for technical and scientific experts in explosive and security forensics, it concentrates on analysis and detection and covers three major themes: Complementary and common issues in security and forensics; 'New' explosives: state-of-the-art and beyond; from analytical to operational and vice versa. ISADE 2013 will take place during the 'Explosive Week’, a week in which a platform is provided for various stakeholders in the field of explosives, at the NFI Field Lab facility in Den Haag over the period 7-10 October [](https://cbrneworld.com/%5C%22www.isade2013.com%5C%22). The participants in this meeting will discuss the main worldwide policy issues on the analysis and detection of explosives and in addition NCTV will organise an international exercise on explosives: XXplosive 2013. The exercise is 5th in a series of International CBRN/E exercises and builds upon the experiences and lessons learned in Cobalt 2009, BIOSHIELD 2010, CHEMSHIELD 2011 and @TOMIC 2012.
Falcon Communications has spent the past two years providing testing or explosive detectors to ASTM standards in partnership with Cranfield University, in addition to this it sponsors Andrew Johnston's PhD in the field of explosive detection.
