#  Strengthening Global CBRN Preparedness with the Participation of the UniLodz Scientists

The Central School of the State Fire Service in Częstochowa hosted an international training course on situation assessment and sampling in areas contaminated with chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) agents from 18 to 22 May 2026. The event was attended by a representative of the University of Lodz Biohazard Prevention Centre.

The training was organised by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the recipient of the 2013 Nobel Peace Prize. [Mgr inż. Maksymilian Stela](https://www.uni.lodz.pl/en/employee/maksymilian-stela), an employee of the Biohazard Prevention Centre, had the honour of serving as one of the instructors.

The training brought together representatives of 18 States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention**.** They represented armed forces, fire services and rescue services, police forces and civil protection organisations from North and South America, Africa and Asia.

In the face of constantly evolving CBRN threats, growing geopolitical tensions and the persistent risk of terrorism, strengthening international preparedness and response capabilities remains one of the global priorities. International cooperation, practical experience and operational readiness are key pillars of effective response to CBRN threats.
