Lt. Col. Dr.. Michael Hoefer
Currently, Michael Hoefer is serving as head of the WMD unit at the Bundeswehr Verification Centre.
He is a CBRN officer with more than 30 years of professional experience in operational as well as staff positions. Among other assignments, he led the NRF 15, CBRN Joint Assessment Team, and was seconded to OPCW as Subject Matter Expert for the operation to remove and eliminate the Syrian chemical weapons stockpile.
He recently left OPCW after seven years of heading first the Declarations Branch within the Verification Division and subsequently the Capacity Building and Contingency Planning Cell of the Inspectorate Division.
He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry with a focus on Technical and Analytical Chemistry
