Director of Experimentation
George Ed Lawson, Jr., serves as the JPEO CBD Director of Integration. He previously served as Liaison Officer to United States Pacific Command from 2014 until his current assignment as part of the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND).
Mr. Lawson serves as the Director of Integration comprised of emerging technologies, emerging threats, strategic engagements and requirements decomposition through experimentation to establish and prioritize resourcing and support to meeting objectives of the Chemical and Biological Defense Program and the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological. Responsible for seamless, multi-faceted support for multi-Service (Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force) and Joint Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) Defense Programs (medical and non-medical) and Force / Installation Protection Systems supporting the National Strategies.
Mr. Lawson served 25 years of active duty service in the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC), with assignments in Infantry Battalions, Air Wings, Drill Instructor, USMC HQ, Defense Threat reduction Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency and the Joint Staff. He retired from active duty and began his civilian career at JPEO-CBD in 2010 where he served as the Operations Officer 2010-2013. In 2014 he was assigned as the Deputy JPM for Elimination which designed, developed and fabricated Chemical Destruction technologies as well as operated systems in support of global threats, in particular, Syrian Chemical stockpile and Chemical munitions in Panama and Pueblo CO.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Grantham University. His education also includes NCO School, Platoon Sergeant Course, DI School, SNCO Academy, Advanced SNCO Academy, WO Basic School, Radiological Emergency Team Operations Course, Advanced Chemical Captain’s Career Course, Combating WMD Planner Course, Technical Escort Course, National Defense University International Negotiations Course, DTRA CWC Treaty Course, DIA Chemical Biological Evidence Collection Course, Joint Staff Officer Course, Program Manager’s Course, and Executive Program Manager’s Course and is Defense Acquisition University DAWIA Level III certified in Program Management and is a member of the Army Acquisition Corps Association.
His military awards and decorations include the Good Conduct Medal (3), Navy Commendation Medal (2), Korean Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terror Medal, National Defense Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (3) and the Legion of Merit.
