Bob Royall is a 45-plus year veteran of the fire service and is currently the Assistant Chief, Emergency Operations and the Chief Financial Officer for the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office in Harris County, TX.
Chief Royall holds an Advanced Firefighter, Certified Fire Officer, Hazardous Materials Technician, and Incident Safety Officer Certifications. He is also a recognized subject matter expert on matters of Homeland Security response and preparedness, emergency management, disaster response, community planning and preparedness, and industrial response.
Chief Royall proudly served as the Deputy Area Commander for the Hurricane Katrina Astrodome Shelter Operation, and as the Local On-scene Coordinator for the ESF-10 Hazardous Materials and Oil Spill response following Hurricane Ike. He currently Chairs the IAFC National HazMat Committee, the Texas Department of Emergency Management - Texas Emergency Management Advisory Committee, is Co-Chair of the National Fire Protection Association 475 Technical Committee, a Principle Member of the NFPA 472 Technical Committee on Hazardous Materials/WMD Response, a member of the Houston-Galveston Area Maritime Security Committee, the Central Texas Coastal Area Committee, and the former Chair of the Greater Houston Local Emergency Planning Committee.
Chief Royall’s recognitions include the Houston Fire Department Commendation Medal and Medal of Valor. He has also received the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office Distinguished Service, Meritorious Service, and Humanitarian Service Medals. In 2010, Bob was awarded the U.S. Coast Guard Meritorious Public Service Award for his efforts during Hurricane Ike.
