Ryan Putman, Deputy Fire Marshal, Utah State Department of Public Safety
Ryan Putman started with the Utah State Fire Marshal's Office in 2016 in their Hazardous Materials Section and developed its Unmanned Systems Program, which provides training and guidance to other public safety agencies, as well as responding to requests for aerial imagery from agencies that do not have their own programs. The Utah State Fire Marshal's Office Unmanned Systems Program consists of 10 UAVs and one underwater ROV, and has deployed these vehicles to fires, missing persons, and hazardous materials spills.
Ryan has worked in public safety for 15 years, from small town volunteer fire departments, to career metro fire departments and now the Utah State Fire Marshal's Office. Ryan has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management, completed coursework at Utah State University on designing and building Unmanned Vehicles, and is currently working on his Master's of Science in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University.
